MY PODCAST SCRIPT

In this GRAMMAR lesson we will discuss what are prepositions and how to use them correctly. We will also study a list of most common prepositions used in conversations.

What are Prepositions?
It is a word used before a noun or pronoun to relate it to the other words. When you form a phrase with the preposition it is called a prepositional phrase. This consists of a preposition and its object.

For example:
My English books are in my house.

“in my house” is the prepositional phrase. In is the preposition and house is the object of the prepositional phrase.

Why are prepositions and prepositional phrases important?
It is important mainly because they indicate a relationship between the object of the prepositional phrase with the rest of the sentence
In these examples, we see how the object of the prepositional phrase “table” is related with the rest of the sentence

The notebook is on the table.
The notebook is under the table.
The book is beside the table.
She held the notebook over the table.

WHEN WE USE PREPOSITIONS AND PREPOSITIONAL PHRASES WE JOIN IDEAS AND RELATE THE NOUNS WITH THE REST OF THE SENTENCE. THIS MEANS THAT OUR SENTENCES ARE CLEARER BECAUSE WE GIVE MORE INFORMATION.

PODCASTS

A podcast is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and downloaded through web syndication. The mode of delivery is what differentiates podcasts from other ways of accessing media files over the Internet, such as simple download or streamed webcasts: special client software applications known as podcatchers (like iTunes, Zune, Juice, and Winamp) are used to automatically identify and download new files in the series when they are released by accessing a centrally-maintained web feed that lists all files associated with the series. New files can thus be downloaded automatically by the podcatcher and stored locally on the user's computer or other device for offline use, giving simpler access to episodic content.
Most dictionary definitions of a podcast fall into one of two camps as of September 2009. One set focuses on the "on-demand" nature of podcasts. Another set requires the automatic or syndication posting. There are problems with both definitions. The first is too open. Under such a definition, a paid music download could technically be a podcast. Most audiences would disagree. The second is very limiting, in comparison. It does not allow for manual downloads. Researchers at the Center for Journalism and Communication Research at the University of Texas at Austin are proposing a four-part definition of a podcast: A podcast is a digital audio or video file that is episodic; downloadable; program-driven, mainly with a host and/or theme; and convenient, usually via an automated feed with computer software.
The term podcast refers to an ongoing series or episodes of a particular program. A podcaster is the person who creates the content.
The term "Podcasting" was first mentioned by Ben Hammersley in The Guardian newspaper in a February 2004 article, along with other proposed names for the new medium. It is a portmanteau of the words "Pod" - derived from iPod- and "broadcasting". To avoid a term similar to "iPod", some use the term Netcast instead of Podcast.
It has never been necessary, despite the source of the name, to use an
iPod or any other form of portable media player to use podcasts; the content can be accessed using any computer capable of playing media files. A backronym has been posited where podcast stands for "Personal On Demand broadCAST". Podcasting began to catch hold with the public in late 2004, though during the 1998–2001 dot-com era there were multiple "podcasts" done by major companies, such as Real Networks and ESPN.com. Many individuals and groups[who?] contributed to the emergence and popularity of podcasts.
The most common audio file format used is
MP3.

TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said with the invention of the printing press, radio, and television. All of these can be used inappropriately, but all of them have given humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. Appropriately used-- interactively and with guidance-- they have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills.
Inappropriately used in the classroom, technology can be used to perpetuate old models of teaching and learning. Students can be "plugged into computers" to do drill and practice that is not so different from workbooks. Teachers can use multimedia technology to give more colorful, stimulating lectures. Both of these have their place, but such use does not begin to tap the power of these new tools.

My favorite movie of all times

In this post I like to talk about my favorite movie of all times, which is "As good as it gets", I really don't know why is this my favorite because I usually prefer thrillers rather than comedy or romantic movies, well this is kind of both, is really far from beeing a thriller, it doesn´t have bad guys, only real life situations presented in a funny perspective, the leader role is performed by Jack Nicholson who is "Melvin Udall". Here is a little bit of this story.

Melvin is a romantic novelist who is a selfish manic compulsive who is rude and insulting to all he meets. When Melvin's gay neighbour is beaten up and robbed, Melvin agrees to look after his dog. The dog gives Melvin something to care about other than himself and his life is approaching normal until his regular waitress has to leave work to look after her asthmatic son and his neighbour wants his dog back. Melvin starts to realise that his life needs others for more than just selfish reasons.

THIS IS VERDELL!!!

Well I need to mention that I really love the little dog called "Verdell" is a very cute dog and he brings a lot to the movie, and I think he is a very good actor too!.

THE HONDURAN WHITE BATS

Well I found this that I think is very interesting I have never heard of this kind of bats, and I think they are kind of cute.

The tiny white bats of Honduras are among the cutest rodents on Earth. Also known as Ectophylla Alba, the Honduran white bats are only 37-47 mm long and can be found at Central America and The Caribbean. They cut the side vains of Heliconia plant leaves causing them to fold into a protective tent. The small bats live in colonies of up to six individuals, one male and a harem of females.

The natural tent protect the white bats from rain and predators and they only take flight when their home is not longer safe.

ORIGIN OF WINDOWS XP DEFAULT WALLPAPER

Have you ever thought what is this picture, where does it come from and other details? This is a photograph of a landscape in Sonoma County, California, from which the famous Bliss image, used as the default computer wallpaper on Windows XP, was produced. The photograph was taken by the professional photographer Charles O’Rear. Inside you’ll find the Bliss image to compare with, the same view shot 10 years later and a photo by the Swiss artist who managed to find a view post factum, which looks even more like the Bliss image!
